Film Description: A priest succumbs to the urge of recounting the story of an inexplicable friendship to a blocked composer who visits his church every morning.

Synopsis

The lives of three very different people become interwoven when Pietro stops what he’s been doing, comes down off of his stilts, breaks down, and has to be put back together by Marguerite. Pietro is a Catholic priest, and Marguerite is a composer. Their meeting takes place in a chapel in Torino, Italy. Pietro has lost his one and only friend, six years ago. Petrified his heart will break, he’s refused to speak of it to anyone. That is, until the day comes when weird but apparently lovable Marguerite—every single day at nine o’clock sharp Marguerite—is standing in the right place at the right time to catch his heart’s unfolding and walk with it to someplace new. A voyage within a voyage. What Pietro has to say unfixes the gentle but musty coil of duct tape Marguerite had wrapped tenderly, angrily about her own ears long ago, even longer ago than Pietro’s tragic events. She wishes he’d stop. She barely knows him. He will not stop. Marguerite would have broken down if she’d heard this story a few years ago. Not today. Today it might cause her to erupt. Pietro should perhaps move out of the way.200 But no. This won’t be the throes of an awakening volcano, but the first primordial burp of a chick discovering its destiny as a songbird.

A great weekend! Aug 24, 2006 05:54PM
Last weekend (Aug 12-13), Dammi il La was showing at four different festivals at the same time: Rhode Island Int'l Film Fest, Hollyshorts, San Francisco Fest of Shorts and the Napa Sonoma Wine Country Film Festival. Well, we have been awarded Best Drama at Hollyshorts, Best Int'l Short at the Napa Sonoma Wine Country Film Festival and were one of the 10 nominees for Best Cinematography at the Rhode Island Int'l Film Fest. Not bad, eh! We're now at seven awards!

I saw your film back in Sarasota. It was beautiful. Like watching poetry. What are you both up to now? Maybe we will meet again in the future.

Matteo - hi, we're really looking forward to seeing your film. The trailer looks beautiful, really classic. I've been following the Torino Film Festival website and I noticed your film is listed under the final results for the Spazio Torino - but it's in Italian and I can't understand what it all means!

I loved the film. The countryside, acting, score, unspoken things, the depth of character development, its entire conception, make this a truly remarkable jewel of a film.
