Synopsis

In TESTIFY, we discover the truth behind a broken relationship between a father, prominent Southern Baptist Pastor Cyrus Biggs, and his son Gene.After Sunday’s service, Pastor Biggs is informed by a familiar, yet unannounced visitor, that it is imperative that he goes to visit his son. The Pastor and son meet and a new revelation is revealed.

Congratulations! Your film TESTIFY has been selected to screen at the 31st Cleveland International Film Festival (March 15-25, 2007). This year, close to 700 independent short film entries were submitted for review by our Selection Committee. Needless to say, competition was fierce.

TESTIFY just received word that it will screen at the Noir Film Festival in San Diego, California: Feb. 1-4th. The Noir Film Festival, originally known as the Micheaux Film Festiva, is produced by SAKHAM, Inc., in partnership with the Black Historical Society of San Diego, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization. The Noir Film Festival now features seven genres of independent black films, an opening reception, parties, awards gala, panel discussions, celebrity appearances, featured directors, as well as, a marketplace. San Diego finally has a full fledged black film festival. And all are welcome to attend, enjoy, and experience America's black cinema.

The festival, organised by the British Film Institute (BFI) is the third largest film festival in the UK and attracts audiences of over 25,000. The LLGFF will run from 21 March - 4 April 2007. The London Lesbian and Gay Film Festival presents a strong and eclectic programme of feature films, shorts, artists' film and video and experimental work, as well as a whole host of discussions and special events.

TESTIFY will screen at the Harlem Stage on Screen, formerly known as the Harlem Film Festival. This wonderful event takes place March 9th-11th 2007 at the Harlem Stage (Aaron Davis Hall) in Harlem, New York City. Harlem Film Festival was created in 1991 to support the works of independent filmmakers of color. The films and videos presented at Harlem Film Festival strive to tell new and unique stories of people of color with a diversity of images and to create a forum of dialogue benefiting both the filmmakers and the audience. The festival reflects the diversity of the Harlem community, as well as the independent film community, where film and video makers continually experiment with new forms, forge new territories and disregard boundaries. Since its inception, the festival has been curated by Michelle Materre. Neyda Martinez joined as producer in 1998.

Congratulations! Our jurors have deliberated and your film was selected to receive a Redemptive Storyteller Award for 2006. This is a tribute to your hard work and the high quality achieved by your team. Our jurors included professionals with years of experience in many aspects of cinema and television and one "film aficionado," who represented the public. All entries were screened using very high standards and only films with an average rating of 80 percent were selected as award winners. Several good films were not selected for this award, so you should be proud of your achievement.

Today is September 28, 2006. I assumed that all notifications for Indie Memphis had gone out and I simply had not gotten in. Well, to my surprise, this morning, I was delighted to find an acceptance email in my inbox. TESTIFY is on its' way to Tennnessee!

Just received word that TESTIFY will screen next month in Atlanta at the Urban Mediamakers Film Festival. I was nervous about this one because I'm a student and I forgot to mention that on the application. BUT, instead of being programmed in the student competition, TESTIFY will screen in the regular short competition!

Let me do a little "Testify"ing--this movie is a must see, it's unpredictable, will keep you wondering. It's far from fiction, and it mirrors an ongoing issue in our society.
