A Change Is Gonna Come won it's first award this past weekend at the Waterfront Film Festival! It was named the Audience Choice for short film in the Michigan Film Lodge. This is the only award given to short film in the entire festival, and is voted on by the festival-goers themselves!

It was a great week for Change all around as it was also named an official selection of the Martha's Vineyard African-American Film Festival! The festival takes place August 10-13, 2006.

Well I'm preparing for my first big festival, the Waterfront Film Festival in Saugatuck, MI (www.waterfrontfilm.org). I'm very excited about this fest because it's close to my hometown of Battle Creek, MI and I get to go home and see friends and family. I'm even going to be interviewed for the local paper! The fest runs June 8-11th and I'm screening at 11:30am on Sunday June 11th at Venue 4, the Michigan Film Lodge.

After Waterfront it's a quick trip back to LA for the Hollywood Black Film Festival (www.hbff.org) which starts June 13th. I'm very excited about this one as well. It's one of the premiere fests for African American filmmakers and I get two all access passes to all the seminars and screenings. My film will be playing as part of the Student Shorts #2 screening. Saturday, June 17th at 5pm at the Harmony Gold Preview House. This a GREAT venue, really top of the line.

If you're at either fest, please come up and say hello!
