Beautifully disturbing. It can be seemingly upsetting when taken at face value - but when delving deeper into this short's meaning and purpose (as explained by the filmmaker), the message is a poignant one that resonates deeply with any parent & child.

Very disturbing, very beautiful. I was privileged to hear the director's explanation of the meaning -- I agree with her theme, and the audience spontaneously applauded her words. The photography, the images were stunning. I have two little girls, so I was squirming and resistant, but this is a powerful work.

Hey Eveline. I saw your short yesterday at the Arclight. It was one of the most uncomfortable experiences I've had in the theatre in a long time - probably since "Come and See." It angered me as a father, and troubled me as a fellow filmmaker, probably becuase now I AM a father. The thought of my own girl drowning clouded my ability to process the film objectively, so I read your reasoning behind the film on your website, which I found to be really interesting, provocative and ultimately, comforting. However, I fear that your unflinching coverage of a little girl slowly drowning ultimately is too much for most people to look past, to see the true meaning(s) behind your film.
Having said all this, you have done the very thing that I as a filmmaker value the most - to leave an impression, and to spark discussion. For that I give you 5 stars :-)

Hello, Eveline. I just wanted to tell you that I thought your short was AMAZING. I can understand that it bothers people because it is realistic and many probably take it merely at face value - the seemingly cold hearted killing on an innocent child. But when I came to understand the meaning behind the actions on screen (after you explained it, of course, I was feeling unsettled myself after watching it - even though I don't have children myself, yet), I saw it for what it was, a poetic metaphor and life lesson for the dynamic between parents and their children.
