This is an experimental documentary shot in NYC over the last four years. It covers the lives of a group of New York artist all known by artist-filmmaker Ross Brodar. It is an attempt to uncover what Being An Artist is all about, what drives them? What is their struggle? And what is it like to be an artist in NYC at the turn of this century. This is a raw, edgy attempt to uncover poetic truths. This is a work in progress, I’d like to re-film some of the artists now and see their progression .My goal is to create a film that looks like a montage ,an art piece .The artist I have in my film are some of the underground artist who are the fiber of this city. Some are known others remain obscured all are extremely interesting and true. I need funding in order to tighten it up, flesh it out and go deeper into some of their lives. I'd like to show the world those who have chosen to live for their dreams and passions. I want to see what makes us tick. Are they succeeding or failing, where do they fit in this society. In the film I have sculptors, painters, musicians and writers of all ages. I believe this project has rawness and edge that is compelling .it is not done in a format that is often seen. My hope is to get this film finished and out into the world. I also own the name BEING AN ARTIST >COM which I believe is a great place to be able to go and see more art and perhaps purchase work by the artists that catch your interest.
