Synopsis

Once upon a time there was a tiny sugar producing town in tropical outback Australia called Tully. Tully was a very prosperous little town until one grim day when Brazil dumped its sugar stockpile on the global market. The townsfolk called a meeting to see what could be done to save the town from financial disaster. One man stood up for the challenge and proposed to build The World's Biggest Gumboot in honour of Tully's record rainfall of 7.98 metres back in 1950. Ron hunt, the quixotic and determined town elder would simply not rest until the boot is safely erected in the parkland adjacent to the town's historical motion picture theatre. Ron hired out of towner Bryan Newell to build the monument, which put local artist and frogologist Roger Chandler's nose out of joint. The cost of the boot blows way out of hand, and the building of he boot is forever delayed by ... RAIN. Has Ron asked himself why a tourist would want to come to Australia's wettest town? And after all the cost and bother, will it save the township from ruin?
