Film Description:
Synopsis
In the spring of 2005, a young graduate filmmaker from UCLA set forth to make documentary reflecting an element of contemporary music culture that had yet to be fully examined. The notion was to capture something raw and original. He searched for something unpretentious and genuine, yearning to make a film that would stand out from other music documentaries and potentially redefine the genre. Who he found was a band called Electric Apricot; what he achieved was enlightenment. Unexpectedly in searching for enlightenment, the duality of existence was unveiled. Electric Apricot has been kicking around the peripheral of the Jam scene for several years now and is comprised of four colorful characters that take themselves far too seriously. Bellowing the anthem ?Hey, Are You Going to Burning Man??, the band has recently been offered some opportunities that could potentially break them through to levels beyond their dreams and our young filmmaker is there to document the rise. He follows them from nightclubs to the recording studio and eventually on the road to the Holy Grail of West Coast music events, a festival aptly named ?Festeroo?. ?Festeroo?, where the tie- dye flows and the Hula-hoops twirl, becomes the backdrop for this dry, character driven comedy that takes an endearing yet twisted look at the American cultural phenomenon known as the Jam Band scene. Shot documentary style and featuring a talented ensemble of both newcomers and veterans. ?Electric Apricot: Quest For Festeroo? marks the feature directorial debut by renowned singer-songwriter/musician Les Claypool.
