“In times of war, emotions can get the best of us.” This is said by Major Reynolds to a shaken up soldier who just brought in a Nazi prisoner. The Nazi prisoner was captured shortly after executing a Jewish family in a forest. In captivity, the Nazi attempts to escape while his fate is being decided. On the run, he begins to see things in his path. Ghostly figures appear from that night in the forest where he killed the Jewish family. The visions intensify to where he falls into a replay of the horrific scene at the execution. Unable to change the past, the Nazi must watch himself commit the murders all over again. Just as he gets to the point of where he was captured, he awakes from a dream-like trance only to find he had never made the escape attempt. The ranking allied officer walks over to the prisoner and makes his decision. 'This man is to be put to death.' The Nazi prisoner begins to hear voices from his haunted past as the allied soldiers arm themselves and prepare for his own execution! In a last ditch effort, he decides to run for his life. For a moment, it seems as if he will make it into freedom. A bullet is fired and he drops to the ground. He falls, fatally wounded, somehow back to the scene of his crime and witnesses his true evilness before his eyes are shut forever.
