Adventures in Geocaching explores the emerging game of geocaching and the people who are involved in it. Geocaching – an Internet-based high-tech scavenger hunting game using Global Positioning System (GPS) devices – is new to many people, but to its avid participants, it’s a world of its own. This entertaining film tells the stories of three wildly different geocachers. Meet TRUROKR, a.k.a. John Noble, dedicated family man, animal lover and environmental activist who loves geocaching for the opportunities to visit new destinations. His local rivals, the Ventura Kids, a.k.a. Steve and Sandy, are the self-professed “bad guys” of geocaching. Ranked #3 in the world in total number of geocaching finds, Steve will do whatever it takes to find a cache and wastes no opportunity to remind people of his ranking. Filling out the cast of characters is Aerospacecase, a.k.a. Brian O’Connell, for whom geocaching offers an escape from his clinical depression and helps him get back into life. These diverse characters allow the audience to uncover the mysterious appeal of searching for trinkets. Adventures in Geocaching is much more than an explanation of geocaching; it is a humorous, in-depth portrayal of four fascinating characters and their feelings about competition, community, and the search for the elusive Tupperware container.
