Film Description:
Synopsis
Today, in the world, there are a few hundred people who took arrangements to have their bodies frozen after death. The process is scientifically called “cryonic suspension”. They will be preserved this way, until science is able to bring them back to life. The last crazy idea of some multimillionaire? Not really. Instead, looks like the latest answer to the ethernal question of life and death, from a “scientific” point of view. We visit the Cryonics Institute of Detroit, where Andy, the facility manager, explains the cryopreservation procedures. He shows us the process on a new 'patient' who has just arrived at the Institute. We meet Robert Ettinger, the founder of the Cryonics Institute, who shows us the pictures of the people already frozen and waiting for reanimation at the Institute. We speak with a few members of the Institute, who signed up to be frozen. We talk with Kevin and with his grandmother Viola. They both have arranged their suspension. In 2005 Kevin had his dog Thor put down and frozen. We also meet the K. family. Bret, the head of the family, has stipulated a life insurance for the cryonic preservation of his whole family, including his two little children. We also meet Randy Wicker in Hoboken, New Jersey. Randy is 68 years old and wants to be cloned. Having an identical twin born in the future, an individual who will share his own special genetic structure, looks to him as a partial triumph over death.
