'It's Happiness: A Polka Documentary' showcases the eccentric personalities of Wisconsin's waning polka community. While many “elders” resort to a quieter life in their later years, these “polka people” refuse to surrender to the inevitable constraints of aging. Art Altenburg owns and operates the last polka bar in town, but is faced with closing after news his mother is sick up North. Driven by a memory of the past, Greg Drust's record collection is rapidly approaching 1 million. And Polka Boosters President John Pinter attempted a 40 story accordion shaped Polka Hall of Fame, created The Polka Queen, and is now onto his next mission: Set a Guinness Book of World Records for most children polka dancing at one time. While all appears alive and well in the polka world one question remains, 'In 20 years, who will run the dance halls, perform in the bands, and pounce the floors?” Art, Greg, and John clutch to a hint of hope in the current, yet underground younger generation who instead of going to the local mall on Saturday night, proceed to the nearest polka festival. As their stories unwind, we see how the “polka people' use this music to live rather than just be alive. Also, rounding out the mayhem is a retired second grade school teacher who often dresses as Polkabelle the Clown, Garnet Schneider leader of The Rowdy Bunch and inventor of the shot-ski and Polka's Living Legend Jimmy Sturr who months ago won his 15th Grammy.
