Synopsis
From 1976 to 1983, Argentina was governed by a military regime. During this dictatorship, 30 000 people went missing. Most of their bodies have not been recovered. Among the “disappeared” are counted 500 children whose parents were killed and who were then raised by families connected to military and security forces. To date, only 82 of these 500 children have been identified by their biological families. “Sebastián” is a film about the Casado family. Cotita was in her early 20s when the junta took power. She was a student in Buenos Aires, and like many others who were politically active at that time, a victim of the repressive forces who were trying to eliminate any political movement they deemed to be dissident. She was imprisoned for over 4 years. While she was in jail, her brother and her sister were kidnapped and killed by the junta. At the time, her brother’s partner was pregnant, as was her sister. It is only after democracy was reinstated that Cotita realized both women had given birth while in captivity. Cotita has devoted the last twenty years to trying to locate her siblings’ children. In February of 2006, she finally found her brother’s son, Sebastián, who is today 28 years old. “Sebastián” is not just about one family. It is the microcosm for the wounds suffered by an entire country during and after the bloodiest Argentine dictatorship.

I was witness of Gabriella's effort and tears during summer days in Buenos Aires. I hear about people who shouted Gabriella because they regarded her film as a morbid film about dictatorship in Argentina. Nonetheless she kept focused in doing Sebastian. Gabriella, I am glad to read about you success in europe. I hope one day it can be presented in Mexico City.
