A troubled woman walks into deep water to drown herself. Frantically, her husband searches for her and just as he turns to see her floating body in the water the image fades to their life together three days earlier. Susan and Daniel are a fun-loving young couple preparing to celebrate their anniversary by viewing humorous films of Susan’s childhood vacation. Even though Susan clings to the joy of her marriage, she is plagued by intense emotional flashbacks that she hides from her husband. Susan cannot suppress her core belief that not only is she undeserving of a loving relationship. While Susan sleeps in the car, Daniel drives to his surprise anniversary get-away gift for his wife. He unwittingly delivers Susan to the cottage of her past. Once there, she can no longer escape the flood of her memories, the crush she had on her father's friend, the kiss from him she hoped for, and the terrifying rape after. Memory and reality blur as she re-lives her rape and her attempted suicide. Susan wades into the water to drown herself. After an intense search, Daniel drags his wife from the lake and resuscitates her. Daniel reaches out to her, but she lunges away. In this moment, Susan must decide to have the courage to trust her husband’s love, despite her perception that he will reject her as a damaged person. Eventually, she allows him to slowly and gently touch her face.
