Synopsis

A Buffalo Soldier must weigh duty versus ego when a prejudiced postman's daughter is kidnapped. In 1866, through an act of Congress, two units of Black Cavalrymen, the 9th and 10th, were formed. They were deemed 'Buffalo Soldiers' by the Cheyenne as s show of respect and admiration of their fighting prowess and spirit. This is contrary to the common belief that the title was a comparison of the Black soldier's hair texture to that of the buffalo. These soldiers excelled despite social, environmental, and martial obstacles. This film honors, the memory, sprit, and sacrifices of early African-Americans in forging the American West.

"The Forgotten West" will screen at the Black Harvest International Film Festival in Chicago, IL! August 3-30, 2006 "The Forgotten West" will screen at the Golden Lion Film Festival in Swaziland, Africa! October 14 - 28, 2006. "The Forgotten West" was invited to screen at the Buffalo Soldier National Museum in Houston, TX! July 4, 2006. "The Forgotten West" won Best Cinematography along with Outstanding Achievement awards at The Big Screen Film Festival in Chicago, IL!
