Alexis Daniels, a beautiful Afro-American game show hostess struggling with the inner demon of 'how' she landed the role, flees Hollywood and wanders into a rundown diner for a cup of coffee... Here she encounters Nelly Munro, an aging Hollywood starlet turned hostess, who's struggling with a few demons of her own; namely an abusive husband. Surprising, given Nelly's own gruff demeanor. But Alexis detects the loneliness in Nelly's eyes, and soon the conversation between them flows as freely as the liquor. Alexis is everything Nelly wanted to be: a star!
