Film Description:
Synopsis
'The Showdown' brings together two aspects that are uniquely American, Baseball and the Old West. It is a short action/drama film, about the confrontation between a pitcher and batter in the bottom of the ninth inning of a high-stakes baseball game, juxtaposed against a deadly duel between two gunslingers in the Old West. It is written, directed and produced by Antony and Fulvio Sestito and stars Clayton Norcross, Taran Killam, Robby Welles, Michael Kirkhart, and Joe Campanella. Antony and Fulvio Sestito wrote the screenplay from an original idea by John Mazzarella. The film is also produced by Troy Combs and John L. Mazzarella. 'The Showdown' is about duels and duality, and is a film which sets to explore and challenge the relationship between baseball and the Old West. The film portrays the story of The Batter and Jonathan C. Edwards, two men fighting for their destiny and trying to overcome their fears against the nightmares of their past. It all happens in the same place, in the same manner, but roughly 100 years apart. It is a story about loss and redemption, and how history can repeat itself.

The Showdown Opens Theatrically for Academy Awards Legibility at the Fine Arts in Beverly Hills.
After the success our film was receiving at several film festivals worldwide, The Showdown, was now ready for Academy submission. And we couldn't do it in a better way than to open the film to the public in one of Los Angeles' most distinguished cinemas. A special thanks from everyone of us to Michael S. Hall (the theater's director) for making this event a reality.

The film screens in front of our audience in its best form. Technicolor delivered us, just a few days before the screening, a brand new beautiful 35mm print. It screens in the 400 seats theater filling the room with its breathtaking Dolby Digital Surround EX mix.

composer Keith J. Hersch, cinematographer Deland Nuse.

and his parents at the Fine Arts.
We want to personally thank everyone that attended the screenings for making it such an unforgettable event. It was a pleasure seeing so many people supporting our film and Independent filmmaking. Our warmest gratitude goes also to the staff at the LA Times and latimes.com for helping us advertise the screenings.
