Film Description:
Synopsis
Greg Jerdon came to the beach with an intention. He would walk into the Atlantic Ocean, and never be seen again. He stares out into the vastness of the ocean, and with the help of his almost finished bottle of rum, he finally gathers the courage to do it. Young Julie Peterson has her own reasons for being at the beach so early in the morning, but today she spots Greg’s body washed up on the shore. Using what basic CPR she remembers, Julie breathes life back into the stranger’s lungs and resuscitates him. Is it possible to save someone who doesn’t want to live? Julie thinks so, and begins her quest to save this broken man emotionally as well. When word gets out around this small beach community about the “transient with a suitcase” lurking around the beach just as tourist season approaches, the local Chief of Police, Tim Berg decides to investigate. As Julie’s friendship slowly blossoms with Greg, he agrees to hide in a beachfront mansion she finds the key to. Julie’s family becomes concerned about her friendship with this man and tries to prevent her from seeing Greg. Discovering the truth about Greg’s past and what has brought him back to this beach forces everyone to reckon with their own hidden hurts and demons. In the end, however, even Julie can’t save one life that is precious to them all.

The story for “Tomorrow is Today” came to me one day after having experienced the loss of a loved one. I was sitting in the sand, starring at the magnificent ocean when Greg and Julie’s story rushed into my mind like one of the powerful waves before me. The first thing I did was call my best friend Mark Hefti who immediately agreed to write it. He came to the Jersey shore to breathe and feel the storyand returned to Los Angeles to write it. One year later he’d completed this very powerful tale of loss, love and survival.
From the beginning the effect of this script on people was remarkable. It made it easy to get wonderful and talented people to join the project. Our DP Kevin C.W. Wong agreed to shoot it for deferred payment and even invest in the project. In fact, virtually everyone involved in this film agreed to dedicate their time and talent to make this story become a reality without upfront pay. And it took very little convincing. The story was that powerful.
The power of the story even traversed the Atlantic when in France Guillaume Roussell (who will in my opinion be one of the great film composers of our time) agreed to write and perform the score for deferred payment as well.
This film has been a magical experience for me because of the healing powers of the story, but also because it allowed me to work with some incredibly talented artists.
When some watch this film they cannot believe that it was shot for such a small budget with a $5,000 camera (Sony HVR Z1U). Even the manufacturers of the camera themselves are floored by the quality. But I cannot take credit for this. It is the result of a group of passionate and generous individuals who decided to give it their all for a story which was worth telling.
Hopefully you will find something in this story, which will help you view the world a little differently. If you need it, hopefully it will give you some hope.
Take care,
Frederic Lumiere

An amazingly beautiful film! Superb directing, acting, writing and music! Will definitely pick up many more awards at festivals and really deserves to be in cinemas! Congrats!!
We really enjoyed the fresh new rising stars and the great story, filiming and music.
Can't believe the quality of the picture, even more so after reading the director's statement. The trailer is very well put together - leaves you with the feeling that this is a very powerful story - definately leaves one intrigued.
Looks great! Kevin C.W. Wong really made that camera sing. I saw this posted on DVInfo a few weeks ago as well and remember how impressed I was. Be sure to let us know the screening schedule.
This movie looks cool!! I saw a clip on Myspace and the acting looks great! Plus the girl Scout is HOT!!

Well, most postings were about a year ago, but I only now learned of the completion of this film. Kudos to you, my now official "Philly Aver." I grew up in Lavallette and seeing some of the sights in the film brings back memories. I skipped stones by the Camden Ave. T-dock. I walked the dunes on the north end of town in the early hours. And I broke into summer homes during the winter to throw parties with the other locals. And the Lavallette Police had me in jail one night as well.
I learned of the filming through a friend, but missed the screening March 26 in Asbury. What can I do to see this movie? And I promise I won't bitch about combining scenes from Point and Lav. (I know that wooden bridge, too. Or was that the Clover Bridge?) It's all one big shore, baby, and I can't wait to see how you've captured what my friends and I used to dream about doing.
