We have the world premiere of a documentary taking place at Cinequest, at the San Jose Repertory Theatre March 3rd. Check out the 2 minute trailer at www.myspace.com/monstercampmovie.
Cinequest calls it: "A rare and fascinating glimpse into a real-life version of World of Warcraft where gamer stereotypes are simultaneously shattered and confirmed.
For 48 consecutive hours-- there are no breaks, not even for sleep -- immerse yourself in a world completely unlike our own. A world built upon fantasy, chivalry, and imagination; a place where you can be anything, dress however, have almost any power, and live as a hero, healer, or villain. It’s a place that lets you transform yourself, perhaps becoming the person you wish you really were. Welcome to Monster Camp, the true story of NERO Seattle."
Tickets are $9 and on sale now:
http://www.cinequest.org/programguide/event_view.php?eid=329
Dates and times: Sat. March 3, 9:30 p.m. San Jose repertory Theatre
Sunday, March 4, 6:30 p.m. Camera 12 Cinemas
Sunday, March 10, 1:15 p.m. Camera 12 Cinemas
Film Threat's review:
"Monster Camp" is one of the many documentaries taking off from the "Trekkies" and "Ringers" formula, in which we spend a time in the lives of folks who just love their hobby ad fanaticism, and Hoback pays them the proper respect for it."
"With enough time, and proper distribution, "Monster Camp" will be as big a cult classic as "Trekkies"..."

Cullen Hoback (director/producer/editor) has been extremely busy with the film project and we have held three focus groups in continuing efforts to refine the film. We are entering major festivals now as a work in progress, so expect that the film will be accepted shortly at one of them; this is an extremely fascinating look into the world of the live action roleplayers. Our web site is under construction and will appear soon at www.monstercampthemovie.com.
The producers may be contacted at akdouglas@msn.com or by phone at 503-407-0810.
Several distributors have already expressed interest in the film, and we are continuing to send out screeners for preview. If you are a distributor and would like a copy, please let us know. Thanks.

I have a blog online for filmmakers, especially those considering filming in Oregon - with details on state incentives, and links to important groups and associations inside and outside of Oregon. If you're from outside the state ask me a question and I'll give you an unvarnished, ungovernmentalized answer. If I don't know the answer to your question I can help you find it.
