Reviews? Reviews!

The flood of reviews that I promised has now begun! Pick your poison:
1) Movie: Susan For Now
Excerpt: "Franzi certainly gives up the goods and there are scenes of, well, bondage, domination and sado-masochism between consenting adults."
2) Comic: The Ticking
Excerpt: "This is the struggle most kids must go through in dealing with their relationships with their parents. Except that most kids don’t have to do it with a chimpanzee as a sister. I hope."

1) I gots the full lineup for the 10 Or Less Film Festival this weekend.
2) The Miami Underground's early deadline is approaching.
3) Evil City had a few winners.
And soon: The film reviews will be comin' at ya fast and furiously. Well, in my case slow and methodically, but I got a bunch coming down the pike. Watch out for them.

Reviews ATA Opus

I reviewed a kajillion awesome short films (seemed that way, anyway) that will be playing at the 2nd Annual Artists Television Access Film & Video Festival, going to be held at the ATA center in San Francisco Oct. 10-12. It's really an amazing lineup and if you live in/near S.F. or love great short films, I say go. My reviews, however, are the next best thing to attending.

Big, big news week last week:
1) Awards for the Sydney and Melbourne Underground Film Festivals.
2) Curator Astria Suparak unduly fired from Syracuse University's Warehouse Gallery.
3) And a look at the First Statement of the New American Cinema Group, circa 1962. Or is it '61?

This Week

Lots o' fun stuff this week, if you missed it:
1) I put up three of my old student short films. Yes, they're embarrassing, but I'm proud of them. You can watch on Bad Lit's Online Cinema page.
2) Even if you don't care about what's playing at the Melbourne Underground Film Festival, you gotta check out the lineup. It's a thing of rare beauty.
3) I put up a couple scans from old Lausanne Underground Film Festival program guides that they were nice enough to send me. Someday I gotta get to Switzerland.

Random Luncacy: Videos From the Road Less Traveled
Sep 01, 2007 05:53PM
Excerpt:
"Now, in Random Lunacy, we’re introduced to a guy who a) doesn’t enjoy owning stuff; and b) is absolutely ecstatic about living on the streets. His name’s Poppa Neutrino and, at the time of this writing, he’s either 74 or 75 and has been basically living the windswept life for all of those years. It all started because his mother suffered from a terrible gambling addiction..."
