Freakfilms, Inc. was started in 1995 by Merle Becker, ex-MTV staff producer / editor. A love of music programming drove her to start Freakfilms, Inc., a company which has focused on projects either heavily influenced by music, or geared toward music video / promotion.

The company's name is a reference to the early free-thinkers of the 1960s, who originally referred to themselves as "Freaks". It also sums up the company's mantra: "Keep it out of the ordinary".

In addition to doing commercial work for networks including MTV, Fuse, VH1, AMC and IFC, the company has finished a political documentary, "Saving Newburgh", as well as several music videos / profile pieces for both major label, and independent artists.

Freakfilms, Inc. continues to do commercial editing and graphics, and is currently working on another documentary.
