HollyShorts HD Camera Rental Prize courtesy of Martini Crew and Booking!

Apr 13, 2008 09:11PM

LESS THAN ONE WEEK REMAINS FOR HOLLYSHORTS FILM FEST REGULAR SUBMISSIONS...ACT NOW! Tell every filmmaker you know Less than one week until the HollyShorts April 16 Regular Submission deadline. You can submit online by visiting the HollyShorts section of Withoutabox. The 4th annual HollyShorts Film Festival takes place August 7-10, 2008 in Hollywood. HollyShorts New Sponsor The Best Student short film Award winner at this years festival will win a 5 day HVX-200, HD Camera rental package from our new sponsor Martini Crew Booking. Below is a description of the camera and new Martini Crew Booking HollyShorts Prize package! About the HVX-200 The HVX-200 looks very much like the DVX100 but physically bigger, and it retains all the best features of the DVX100 (including CineGamma, CineMatrix, the Scene File Dial, the true manual zoom, the precise manual focus, the excellent stock wide-angle 4.5mm Leica lens, and the best audio subsystem on any prosumer camera). It even uses the same batteries. But to this great pedigree it adds more: a longer zoom range (13x, as opposed to 10x on the DVX, for a focal range of 4.5mm to 58.5mm, which will help provide for shallower depth of field); 16:9 CCDs for native 16:9 recording in either high-definition or standard-def; more recording formats (in addition to DV, theres DVCPRO50 and DVCPRO-HD); more recording mediums (in addition to miniDV tape, it offers the revolutionary P2 solid-state memory cards, and may also record or transfer footage directly to optional external 1394 hard disks); more audio (it can record up to four tracks of audio at once); more remote control capability (in addition to the familiar remote zoom jack, the HVX provides for remote focus and get this remote iris control!), more feedback (in addition to the familiar distance scale for focusing, it now reads out the focus distance in feet & meters). All of this plus a tripod & monitor, courtesy of Martini Crew Booking, LLC. martini.JPG About Martini Crew Booking Martini Crew Booking, LLC, was established by CEO Clay Westervelt as an answer to the growing need for courteous, intelligent crews with personality. Adrian Grenier's Euthanasia to Premiere at HollyShorts Short Film Festival HollyShorts Short Film Festival - August 10-12, 2007 HollyShorts A few weeks back, IFA delivered a sampling of some of the best and brightest of nation-wide film festivals. Our list was by no means complete and to prove that fact we present to you a fest that we missed on the last go round. Say hello to HollyShorts, Short Film Festival located right here in downtown Hollywood. HollyShorts Short Film Festival is a celebration of the best of 30 minute and under short film submissions from around the world. Dedicated to providing its applicants and attendees with a forum for filmmaking discussion and an ever increasing industry networking web, HollyShorts takes submissions for four months - from February to May. After some deliberation and, unfortunately, elimination, the festival runs the top submissions in early August. This year, the 2007 Fest will run August 10 thru 12 at Cinespace: Digital Superclub in Hollywood, CA. In just three years, our festival has quickly made its mark, delivering high quality short films, states Daniel Sol, HollyShorts, Short Film Festival Director. As we continue striving to reach our goal, which is to advance the careers of filmmakers globally and showcase great short form projects in front of film enthusiasts, the industry, fellow filmmakers and actors, this years event is poised to be a tremendous experience for everyone involved. Slated to open the 2007 HollyShorts Fest is Actor/Director Adrian Greniers short film, Euthanasia. While most know him as Hollywood darling Vincent Chase from HBOs Entourage, Adrian is far from just a pretty face. Founding his own company, Restless Productions in the early 2000s, Grenier has been making a name for himself as a talented and insightful director/producer. The screening of Euthanasia at HollyShorts marks the films world premiere and lends an air of progression to the HollyShorts fest. Its an honor for HollyShorts to host the Hollywood premiere of Euthanasia, one of the most critically acclaimed short films in quite some time, said Sol. Adrian Grenier is multitalented and has quickly been gaining tremendous respect as a director. We look forward to opening our festival with his short film . . . Seventeen minutes in length, Euthanasia is a dark comedy revolving around the lives of two young girls. Having just earned her drivers license, Sam takes her best friend Becky out for a spin. The world is ripe with possibilities, dripping with freedom. There is nothing they cant do, nothing they cant try. They are, at long last, their own authorities . . . until an unfortunate accident plants them face to face with some difficult questions about life, death and growing up. To put it bluntly, HollyShorts Short Film Festival has plenty to offer and a plethora of venues for involvement. If youre a filmmaker, submissions are currently being accepted for the 2007 HollyShorts, Short Film Festival. With the regular deadline coming on April 27, 2007 and the late deadline, May 25, 2007, all submissions are required to be 30 minutes or under. Categories include Short Live Action, Short Animation, Short Documentary and Student Short. To submit, visit Withoutabox at www.withoutabox.com/login/4655. If investment is the name of your game, sponsorship and partnership opportunities are available. Current sponsors and festival partners include Women in Film, Fetro, Creative Screenwriting Magazine, New York Film Academy, Breakyouself.com, Dreamhouse Ensemble, Stash, Si-Mi.com, Sharp Radio Network and Indiepix. If you consider yourself the biggest movie fanatic known to mankind, HollyShorts can even satiate your appetite for all things film. HollyShorts offers a monthly screening series at the Space Theatre in Hollywood. This months screening, taking place on March 29th, will highlight the work of Larry Hankin (Money Talks, Seinfeld, Oscar Nominated director for short Solly's Diner 1980). HollyShorts is currently offering $5 off submission fees for the 2007 Festival to all IFA filmmakers. Discounts for the HollyShorts Film Festival itself will later be available to IFA members. Hey Hollyshorts,

I've been crazed... doing props on another film. If I don't pop it in the mail tomorrow, definitely, I'll be sending early next week.

Stay in touch.

Hi! thanks for your note, your fest looks very cool. I'm working on a new feature this summer...but am also making some short shorts for use as phone content, ipod content, etc. Webisodes. It's a series, action comedy genre. Just wanted to say "hey" and would love to hear more about your fest.
Best,

Thanks for the info... I meant to visit your site last week. I've landed a job as propmaster for a short film and it's taking a ton of my time. I'll pop in as soon as I can. Thanks for lookin' out - I so appreciate it!
