Film Maker's Blog
As the need for cross-cultural understanding and global awareness increases, CinemaAsia aims to cultivate a better understanding and appreciation of Asian cinema as art and culture. Each year CinemaAsia organizes the Austin Asian Film Festival, a cutting edge festival that reflects the talents of established and emerging filmmakers while exploring the social/cultural issues of the diverse regions of Asia. Through its humanistic, independent and thought-provoking films, the festival celebrate the strength, humanity and spirit of Asians and Asian Americans.
For more information on the festival and its programing, do check out their website.
With an exhibition space of approximately 40,000 square meters, 400 events, 1,600 artists and speakers from over 40 countries around the world, the festival program includes meetings and debates with representatives of modern culture, the world of art and design, and the Italian and international music scenes.
Whimsical Works' very own experimental short For Naomi will be screening at the festival alongside other innovative works in video art, film and animation.
You may download the English or Italian program for more details on the festival's screening schedule.
Find out more about the festival in full at their official website.
First Take, happening every first Monday of the month at the Substation, is a popular screening of new local short films and is followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. A platform for new filmmakers and anyone who is interested in filmmaking to meet, exchange ideas and show their work.
Remember Me screens at 8pm on the 6th of August at the Substation down by Armenian Street, Singapore. Admission's free.
