Educational and Activist Versions of the DVD
Mar 11, 2008 02:18PM
We are working with Indiepix to develop and make available two very special versions of the DVD for SKID ROW. One is geared towards High School students and will be presented by teachers in classrooms and schools and the other is a Activist Version geared towards college students, activists and members of the community concerned with the homeless problem in their city. Both versions will have full instructions and suggestions for hosting a screening of the film, suggestions for discussions afterwards and ideas about what can be done to help end this problem. These special versions of the DVD will be available in April.

We're now doing digital distribution for filmmakers
Sep 28, 2007 04:51PM
We're really excited about our new subsidiary, Indie Rights. We've signed up twenty films that we are working with to find an audience on the internet. More later.

Time to raise money for our next film, DELIVERED
Jun 10, 2007 11:32AM
Now that "Shifted" is available in the market, it's time to focus on raising money for our next film, "Delivered". We're going to try several different things and hope to chronicle our efforts here. One approach is to talk to Angel Investors, Venture Capital Firms and Equity Investors.

An update on distribution...
Jun 06, 2007 10:52PM
We recentl formed a new subsidiary, Indie Rights, Inc. Since we discovered how hard it is for some indie filmmakers to get their films seen, we decided to formalize what started as Inde Co-op, into a company that could aggregate indie films, on a non-exclusive basis, for major retailers and e-tailers. We believe that most filmmakers would love to be in every video store, so why not on every internet e-store? If you're interested, read more on our website and sign up on inDplay. You may be surprised who you'll hear from.
InDplay is an online marketplace that provides filmmakers a gateway to new distribution and sales opportunities. If you are interested in promoting your available rights to professional buyers looking for content across worldwide territories and all platforms, you should definitely check out inDplay. It’s absolutely free to include relevant information about your film(s) such as a poster, synopsis, trailer, and most importantly, what rights are STILL available. Most importantly, you still maintain the right to accept, decline, or counter any offers. To sign up, just click on the logo below:
"Shifted" is now for sale/download off our website, Amazon, EZTakes, Grapeflix, Ubox, Customflix, and inDplay.

We have a new website!
Mar 06, 2007 04:19PM
I hope that you will visit our new website, where we have a lot of good resources for indie filmmakers. Sign up for our newsletter and we'll keep you posted in a little more detail about what we're up to.

Great service for all filmmakers
Mar 04, 2007 10:28AM
This is an awesome service for all filmmakers. Even documentary filmmakers who have such a hard time getting distribution can use this service as a platform to reach a huge audience.
Update on AFM and inDplay
Feb 27, 2007 10:31PM
I encourage every filmmaker to go to AFM and experience the madness of 8,000 industry professionals buying and selling films. Finally, we are seeing some results. We've sold our film to India, digital theaters in Europe, and are in negotiation with several other foreign territories. We are also starting to get offers for rights through inDplay. We've gotten one broadcast offer and another for North American Internet rights - i.e. streaming, VOD, etc. Check it out at inDplay
Distribution - The American Film Market
Nov 22, 2006 11:25PM
When I decided to make a film, I had no idea how long it would really take to edit, screen at festivals, market and distribute. What an incredible experience to see SHIFTED through, from concept to sale. Everyone who makes a film, should go to the American Film Market and see what the business is all about. For a few hundred dollars, you can experience the whole world of international sales. It is an important lesson for all filmmakers to understand how distributors buy/license films for their particular territories - what they are looking for. This experience will really help as I plan for my next film.
AFM - What An Experience
Nov 10, 2006 09:21AM
I spent the last week at the American Film Market, a virtual supermarket of films. This is an experience all filmmakers should have. I learned so much about what to do in the future. After I rest (it is truly exhausting), I plan to share a lot of my experience here.
History:
While on the festival circuit with my film, SHIFTED, I met so many wonderful filmmakers who had little or no idea how to find an audience for their film. Of course, they were all "looking for distribution", as was I, but none of us a serious plan, because we didn't have enough information. Early last summer, I started posting on WAB's Bulletin Board and on MySpace about going to AFM to figure out how this distribution thing works and met with great enthusiasm for the experiment. The first thing I did was to form a group on MySpace for filmmakers with completed films that were looking for distribution.
More later about what happened.
It's been quite a summer and fall....
Oct 26, 2006 08:16PM
And I thought all the hard work was done when we finished editing. It's really just the beginning of the journey. That's when you come out of your cave and risk showing your work to your peers and finally taking it to market. Festivals have been an incredible experience. We've met so many wonderful people - other filmmakers, festival directors, etc.

I saw your endorsement of Customflix on their site today. Was good to see a fellow WAB member! I just registered. So you have gotten good results with their site, huh?

Don't Talk So Dumb

Thanks for the note. My trailer can be seen on our web site www.donttalksodumb.com. Re: Pumelo, no harm, no foul. I just can't stand the deception that the Great Savio employs and I'm hardly alone. Check out the WAB message boards. Hit "Search" and then type in "Pumelo." You will see what Savio is realy all about. We WAB members stick together!

Curious to know if you, "increased your chances of winning a Pumelo award." Your trailer is very good and I enjoyed your blog.

You can go next year. I recommend that all filmmakers go and get at least a one day badge (Day 6 or 7, not 8). It's an eye-opener. If you can afford it, go for the half badge which gives you the last four days. That's what I did and I got to meet with forty buyers and potential distributors that could help finance future films. This is an incredibly important aspect of distribution that all filmmakers need to understand.

Shifted looks like a cool movie... Plus, I sure wish I was at the American Film Market :)
