International Film Festival England Oct 30, 2007 08:14AM
Eight Festivals, Five Countries, Three Continents and Two Awards . . . that’s . . . whoa! 18 THINGS! The film has been accepted into another festival, this one in England and only a few days after the Swansea Bay Film Festival in Wales. Yes folks! It's the completely unknown and inaugural "International Film Festival England" which happens to be in the bustling metropolis of Tamworth, England (near Birmingham I think, the birthplace of the irrepressible Ashwin Sood, drummer, producer, lover, fighter). It is probably a haven for Islamic Fundamentalist terrorism or something, but nevertheless, whenever Banood can get played overseas a little ripple opens in the universe and beautiful things start to happen. People put down their weapons, cast aside their differences and for even just a few brief moments try to dance to the opening refrain of "It Didn't Seem Like A Good Idea At The Time". Mullah, Rabbi, Priest. It's a beautiful dance. So early June 2008 the British Isles will be rocking to the pubescent sounds of Banood! (Did I spell that correctly? Seems to me the word SHOULD have the word "scent" in it.)

The jaunt to South Africa for the African Premiere (and really the first non-private screening I'll have ever been to) is only days away. I've never been to Africa before. With luck I'll actually return!

Fighting In Sunshine: The Untold Story of Banood May 30, 2006 09:42PM
Lorne Yudcovitch and I are excited to announce that our first film, Fighting In Sunshine: The Untold Story of Banood is almost complete and has been entered into a number of festivals. We are hopeful that someone will pick it up since the test screenings have all been resounding successes, most recently in Vancouver, British Columbia and Portland, Oregon.

This is our first outing and we've made a 105 minute documentary on Banood, a group of eight musicians growing up in Calgary, Alberta, Canada. We look forward to bringing Banood to the "voracious masses".
