My first completed short, 2002 Jun 11, 2006 04:00AM
Here's the first short I completed in 2002.

It's called THE TAXI and was created for the first London 48 Hour Digital Guerrilla Film Challenge. We got into the top 10.

We were given the title at 10am on Saturday and had to deliver the 10 minute short at 10am on Monday.

Although rough and ready, I think it's sweet, and has some of the signature style I have developed since.

The preparation work on my next feature is well underway. The actors have been working on their characters for over a year now, so they know them intimately.

Key crew are now in place. I have a world-class DoP and Line Producer, and the rest of the crew are of a very high standard.

I think the Awards at ReelHeART in Toronto, Cheap Shot L.A in the USA and the Cornwall Film Festival in the UK have helped me to recruit top-calibre talent in front of and behind the camera.

Here's hoping the success of ENCOUNTERS is also going to help attract money!

There is a new fund launched last week that finally looks like we may stand a chance of some cash to make the feature. Hence my decision to delay filming until September.

Thanks to everyone who visits this site, I think the International film making community is really developing thanks to sites like this.

I look forward to making contact with as many of you as I can.

I'm intrigued by this new section of WAB. It looks like it may have all the potential of MySpace but with a much more targeted audience.

I'm delighted with the way ENCOUNTERS has been received at Festivals in the USA, Canada and the UK, and I hope anyone who may have seen the film will make a comment here and give us a Rating in the Community Critique section.

We still have plenty of Submissions to Festivals in the pipeline, so here's hoping ENCOUNTERS will continue to have a healthy future.

Andrei Konchalovsky's THE ODYSSEY was a fun movie to watch. We love him as a director -- Runaway Train and Siberiad (Spelled correctly I hope). Both very magical.

I agree about Heaven's Gate. Only the full film can "take you there". So many great things for us, as directors, to glean from that film.
