Film Maker's Blog

Pretty in Pink. Aug 30, 2006 11:28AM
So I made a new layout for myself, and posted the new code for this layout along with better commenting to help explain how you can use it for yourself. Feel free to copy & paste it into a text editor to do your customizations, then copy and paste your finished product into a Blog Entry! Let me know if you use it so I can come check out your super-elite page. :)
Sure you can Borrow my HTML! Aug 17, 2006 06:17PM
Oh man, the active users list is so freaking cool... Aug 17, 2006 02:23PM
If I could get turned on by technology, I would be. Seeing a list of random names of filmmakers & fans surfing the site... It just DOES IT for me! :) Hope you all enjoy it like I do. Love, Sara

Did you know that 5 unpaid parking tickets can land you in the boot? God knows how much money I owe.... I hate LA!!!!

Oh what a beautiful view... Apr 26, 2006 05:23PM

This is where I worked all morning with my coffee. I was almost attacked by a gang of squirrels... I can't sit too close to the edge or they jump on table and knock my Coke over!
So it's been a while. Apr 18, 2006 02:01PM
Sorry, I have too much code to write, not enough time for blog entries. :) I'm really excited to see things come together... We're trying hard to make this more of a community, with friends and favorites and recent updates.

I'm pushing hard for the "My Audience" page, I love to see updates by my friends there. Let me know if you like or don't like anything, I'd love love LOOOOOOOVE to hear some feedback about the site!

Thanks for browsing. If I see you on my visitors list be sure I'm going to stalk you back.
Film Images and Blogs and Things Jan 25, 2006 05:24PM
I'm working on integrating Film data from www.withoutabox.com into this Audience portion of the site. I've added film images, so if you log into regular Filmmaker WAB and add some Production Stills to your Online Press Kit, and they'll pop up here.

That's also where you manage your synopsis, Country, Language, and so on. I'll try and combine as much data as I can to make your film blogs nice and meaty.

I guess there's been some confusion about the differences between User blogs and Film blogs. I think it will become clear as I start adding user thumbnails, more statistics about activity, active user lists, friends, and things like that. Films will start to take shape in a more Festival and Audience oriented way, while Users will become more interactive with eachother.

I think... :)

Let me know what you like and what you hate and what you need and what's important. Things on my list right now:
- Thumbnails
- Edit entry formatting
- Comment presentation
- Ratings consolidation
- Recent activity
- And a billion other things I'll get to sooner or later.

The rest of the A-Team has tons on their plate too! Maybe they'll post about it. I'll post something more about the team later...

Much Love,
Double-O Sara

Pamela Gordon was such an engaging character, I loved her voice, I could have listened to her talk for an hour more. And Diane was beautiful and talented as always! Loved the movie, loved the simple and yet powerful story, loved the dogs!

LOVED this movie! The main character kinda looked like 50-cent, and the scene with the baby & the bugs was soooo crazy. The movie starts off strong and never lets you go... Definitely a must-see. Great job, I'm glad I get to check out the blog too!

Such a great movie, reminds me of a hip female WoodyAllen-esque piece of neurotic goodness. I need to buy it.

Hero Sticks His Head In A Shoe

My cat Hero is the best. He likes to stick his head in my shoes. I couldn't get a very good clip of him with my crappy cell phone, but as my first fully-self-produced short film, I'm happy with it. Maybe if I get video editing software I'll brighten it up. For now, enjoy it, in all its ghetto goodness.

Hi there,

since the site is new, i am myself collecting work profile , official websites of few involved in filmmaking to post in the site.If you are interested please post your work experience , profile or about your film projects at ----------> www.MyFilmmaking.com < ----------- in category that suits you. This is just a small effort .so the site may not be perfect and useful atpresent. It will take sometime for me to really make the site helpful for filmmakers.

Hi Sara, I've got my member page the way I want, but I still need the code for the film page, as it takes some of the old formatting stays (film synopsis, etc.). Also, I'd like to change my background for the whole page and you don't have that in the code that you posted. It's really nice to be able to do some customization, so any help is appreciated.

Just wanted to say hi. Looks like a lot of people depend on you for help, so it's nice to know I have somebody to go to when I need it. Also want to share that when I saw the photo of the back of your (?) neck, I thought of all the times my mom told me she had eyes in the back of her head - I never thought to pull up her hair and look. Back to writing. I took the week off work to write, so I'd better keep disciplining myself.

Just wanted to say thanks for adding me to your friend page. I am so new to all of this - blogs and everything - I'm not even sure yet how to get around everything. I'm working on it. Have to share this - the photo of the back of your (?) neck reminds me of my mom telling me when I was little that she had eyes in the back of her head. I never thought to pull up her hair and look. Well, back to writing. Thanks again - it appears you've helped a lot of people - nice to know there's somebody I can write to for help.

Hi Sara

I would like to apologise for the slow uploading of my films.
The site is still uploading 'TEN" and "THE SON".

Wonderful stuff

Maybe we can learn how you and your team rocks the film world in 2000?

Appreciate that you email me fongcheekeong@hotmail.com or

Hi,
this seems cool. I'm trying... I'm a big fan of MySpace and DeviantArt but I'm trying to dedicate a bit of time to this site now. It's a good idea. I've been trying to upload some videos but so far I couldnt. It takes a while, eh?

Regarding your view... hehe seems great! I'm actually planning on moving to LA soon (I've had enough of the British winter!!)... well... moving for a while (probably for the 3 months I'll be allowed, as a tourist. But anyway... I'm sure I will get lost a lot, as I'm used to our small and walkable cities...

Thanks for your kind words Sara re: Unfinished Business. Audience really is a great tool - it's let me not only promote the film, but I've also learned of other films I want to see! You guys are doing a fantastic job! Three cheers! I have my own website for the film, but I link to Audience from the main menu for the blog. Hey, just had an idea - what would be really cool would be to allow users to search for Audience films using different criteria - genre, country of origin, title, director, etc.

Hi Sara,

Tom here, Mr Reptile Day. I will try to let you know where I find the design tricky. In the main, I'm still trying to work out how all the different bits of the site relate to one another - what the audience sees as opposed to the filmemakers. Or are all the audience filmmakers? (or programmers). I think some sort of simplified site map with hottext to explain the different elements might be helpful. At the moment I am still confused about the site structure, which makes is hard to explain what I am confused about. AS things come clearer I'll send you the odd message explaining that it took me so long to work out such and such.

One little example is that I managed to find your message to me, but then I could not see how to reply. At first I thought I should just write in the box underneath, but then I thought this would just reply to myself. I remembered that I had already sent you a message and I worked out how to do that by visiting your page. So I clicked on your page, scrolled to the bottom and found a little box which I hope will send you a message. This is just a guess- I'm not sure what 'post' means. It's all a bit vague. I get very muddled between posting to a blog and posting to a person. This is not asking for an explanation, but just saying what it's like from a novice's POV.

Lots of love to you too.
x Tom

Hi Sara. Found you when I noticed you had looked at my page (Reptle Day). Here's some feedback: I am certainly a bit confused about the way to use the site. I find the navigation difficult. Also, I am totally in the dark about the 2 types of blog you mention. And can you tell me what is the etiquette for making friends? Does one ask someone to be your friend, or just make them your friend. Oooh lumme I feel a bit lost. Any pointers would be welcome. Despite my confusion it's a great site. You look very lovely in your photo by the way. Sin seriously, Tom.

Sara;
Thank you the visit to my BLOG. Animation is an art form that takes time. All the time that can be found. I am trying to get in the habit of posting to my blog a little more often. It helps to reflect on what seems like a project that just won't start, much less end. since you like animation here are three titles you might want to look out for. "A Tree of Palme" you can find some info at www.advfilms.com. also "Malice@Doll" www.artsmagicdvd.com and lastly not really an anime but well worth the trouble to dig out "Strings" www.geniusproducts.com. if you have allready seen them let me know what you think.

Sara, my second short "The 8th Bullet" about the killing of Jean Charles de Menezes, an innocent Brazilian electrician by the Police in Stocwell Tube Station in London a year ago, was shot without permission... Several parts involved refused to give the permission once the film was shot... I had to re-write, re-shot and re-edit half the film in 3 languages (english, french and portuguese) with teh heat in France almost melting my brain...
Now I am proud to announce that the new version of the film is ready, it is a world premiere, and I would like to thank you for being the first fellow filmmaker to visit my audience page... Now I am on vacation, connecting from a cybercafe open only a couple of hours a day... In September, once I will be back home, I will take the time to find out more about you and your films...
All the best for you and all the other people out there crazy enough to keep making films in the middle of complete human crazyness...
:)

Strictly Ballroom? I am very impressed with how easy the Audience pages are to use. I'm trying to work with more features, but I think a browser upgrade is required, which involves cleaning out my hard drive which involves... Next project, trailer blogging. Thanks for stopping by.

Hello my new friend. Your page looks great! How are you doing?

You had asked me about a trailer for my film Parts. I know I told you about www.247show.com, but there are two places you can view the making of vinette now. You can either go to www.sandpiperproductionsinc.com or www.myspace.com/michaelhebler. I also have a trailer posted for my new film On One Night... at both websites.

Now I'm gonna check out your new project.

Great to hear from you...
Although I don't participate in the judging for the webbys...I am sure your work is brilliant. Glad you still wrote.
Will look forward to seeing your work.

Any chance of lowering the browser blocker on Firefox to version 1.0.5? I'm using the site right now with 1.0.5 via a browser identity cloaker and it's working fine.
