OK I know I'm a bit retarded about technology- I mean I am a super gadget junkie- but even with that caveat the new iPhone is f**king PHENOMENAL!
Touch control emailing, ipod blah blah blah. What gets to ME is the design of the thing, with a display that flips around if the phone is horizontal or vertical... And I quote: "iPhone’s accelerometer detects when you rotate the device from portrait to landscape, then automatically changes the contents of the display, so you immediately see the entire width of a web page or a photo in its proper landscape aspect ratio."
Anybody got $500 bucks to lend me?

Just got to the rooftop here at AFI FEST 2006 Village. So far the vibe is relaxed and convivial. I saw that a bunch of artists had worked over some recycling bins, which was an amazing way of approaching the inevitable ugliness of functional things...
My personal favorite had pink pom-poms stuck to the top. Verrry chic.
Anyways, off to spread the gospel of Audience.

Last night Withoutabox launched Audience, officially, at a party in the AFI FEST rooftop village. There were tons of Audience members and on hand to meet in person (nice, after so many virtual hellos).
Love the way the Arclight dome looks with blue light on it...

last night: gravy train was nuts- but mika miko rocked the hardest.
gravy train was on substances, as they say, and as didn't really go for it- but they made up for it in sheer cuteness and exuberance- there was a young dude in a g-string and tiger ears running around screaming on stage, and a cute chick singer with pigtails...
OK: backstage was nuts - piles of drugs, kids making out as far as the eye could see, nudity, and broken beer bottles underfoot.
sigh. to be 18 again.
am currently tired and chowing down on flinstones vitamins. yum yum.

At last night's Silver Lake Shorts program, I saw probably one of the most inventive, beautiful animations I've seen in a LONG time... Clever uses of puppetry, live footage and animated characters, all set to a screenplay inspired by a poem by William Blake.

I saw a movie the other night at the Los Angeles Latino International Film Festival: "Splinter", directed by my friend Mike Olmos, starring my other friend Resmine Atis- who did a bloody excellent job: understated, effective, believable acting. Amazing- Please check it out if you get a chance.

Pocket Venus and other stories

Went to see POCKET VENUS at Casita del Campo last night, starring Selene Luna (AKA Bobby Pinz) in her first one-woman show, with Pearl Harbor, Squeaky Blonde, and Jillian and Lisa from the Velvet Hammer Burlesque.
Actually, to be honest, I worked as a humble stage hand for the performance (and for tonight's, *sigh*) as a favor to me' mate the amazing AUSTIN YOUNG, who is an amazing photographer, and also directed the play.
Anyways, it's on for one night more--tonight! And it's really fun! And the set is by the legendary Robbie D! And it features a lot of cutout paper!
