The Pill is now an official selection of another Academy Qualified fest, The Los Angeles International Short Film Festival! Screenings are at the ArcLight Cinema in Hollywood. Program 44, Friday 9/8 at 8:oopm and Program 74, Sunday 9/10 at 8:oopm. I'll be there for Q&A, and tickets can be puchase at www.ArcLightCinemas.com. Be sure to say hello!

The Making of “The Pill” Preproduction was finally over, and shooting began in late November. We were set up for the midwife scene and the sonogram technician informed me that there would be no way of getting an image externally unless I was actually pregnant. This would have been really good information to have before I was lying with my jelly covered belly exposed, draining my bank account by the day. Fortunately for me there were plenty of sheets I could use to shield myself from the skeleton crew I allowed to remain in the room, as I underwent a real sonogram. We got the shot. There were other shots, however, that were not meant to be. Nothing but a note was left to greet us at the psychiatrist’s office. Something had come up. WHAT? The office was perfect, it was already dressed. The entire cast and crew were there, and my permit was for THAT address THAT day! I couldn’t afford to get pick up shots much less reschedule, so we split up and began knocking on the doors of every mental health office in the building. But, there are these pesky little Hippo laws that stood in the way of our shoot and another medical office. I called the doctor and left a message begging him to either let us in or give me some medication. Finally, we found an office to shoot in, but it was not a psychiatrists office. It was a real estate office. We scouted the building for plants and mental health décor we could borrow. The storyboard was useless because certain angles revealed furniture and fixed decor that would never exist in a psychiatrist’s office. The scene was what it was, and somehow we wrapped only two hours behind schedule. I got a call from the psychiatrist’s secretary. For the first time in his practice, one of his patients had committed suicide. At that moment, I realized that our problems were insignificant. And, although I had literally put every part of my being; my money, blood, sweat, and tears into this film, I didn’t lose my life. I feel as though I created one. www.thepillmovie.com

The Pill was selected as an official selection of the FAIF International Film Festival (foundation for the advancement of Independent Films)! It will be screening in Hollywood (Grauman's Chinese Theater) Screening time is 4:45 pm on October 6th!

I saw this film at Dances With Films... it was terrific! The title leads you one place, then the film takes you there and brings you somewhere else that is totally unexpected. A great ride.
