Yesterday Benizar Bhutto was assasinated, and I couldn't help but think how this might affect Massouda, who always pointed her out Bhutto as an example of a Muslim woman who was a capable and courageous head of state.
No matter what one thinks of her politics, what a cowardly act to kill a woman -a woman who presents a threat to a military dictatorship headed by Musharraf, a purported "democratic leader." Isn't that an oxymoron?
Bhutto sent CNN's Wolf Blitzer an email prior to her death with the instructions that he should make it public if she were assassinated. "If I am assassinated," she wrote, "Musharraf is to blame." So bizarre that just last night I saw "Charlie Wilson's War."
When I think about what kind of danger Massouda Jalal may be in if she runs again next year it scares me--danger from the same forces that are covertly supported by the Pakistani government, aka the Taliban and Al Queda.
I hope to write a more hopeful blog soon.

Thanks so much!! Well, funny you should ask, we're having our East Coast Premiere at the Miami International Film Festival from February 28 - March 9, 2008, screening times TBA. I went to USF myself --your films look awesome as well.
